First what mega pixel is your camera. When you upload the pics to your computer what size are they?
With my canon camera pics are around 22x30 inches big. Huge, I know, but it allows me to crop around the object and still have it in focus.

I do about the same as Redd.

I have a macro setting on my camera and take a high quality photo (2.5MB or more) of the button or coin from about a foot away with it in marco. I don't use a tripod but probably should.

I just put the object on top of my scanner, hold the camera against my belly to steady it with my right hand and a small light in my left hand held high and in the right position then I snap at least 4 photos and pick the best one to post.

I crop the best photo down so the coin or object fills up most of the screen then I scale it to 600 pixels wide or less. That usually reduces the size to around 100 - 150 KB. Even that is probably bigger than it should be but I generally always save it as 100% quality.

At this point the forum software automatically scales your photo down to 405 pixels wide. I plan on trying to change that to 600. The good news is the photos are click able to make them larger in a separate page. The bad news is pretty soon I will have to open a separate account for Relichunting.Net because we are using a lot of disk space to store the photos. That's really not bad news...it means we are growing!!

See page 11 at the link below:

downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/20...687/SL50_English.pdf

It looks like there is a macro setting on the dial. It's the flower.

As far as cropping goes download GIMP to your computer and I'll show you how to do it.

Re: DIGITAL CAMERA FORUM?? 7 Years, 6 Months ago
...Thanks Keith....due to your info was able to figure out where the Macro was on my camera plus with finding the Macro Setting ....My tripod set-up was not really helping so I removed it so not to use it...so with the macro setting in play....I could zero in on close-ups and the Image would not be blurry......also due to this.....I as far as I can tell do not need to know how to crop....... Thanks Joe
